buddies 5

this time for buddies we did lacrosse! we didn't play so our buddies did, and it went pretty well! we had to teach them how to play properly and keep the game going. while they were playing the big buddies were motivating them and kind of telling them what to do to keep the game going. i think the little buddies did really well and gave it their all to try and get the ball. they were good at communicating with their teammates during the game. it honestly made the big buddies want to play themselves too. i felt like some big buddies including me were a little too like "hey do this" to the little buddies. i think the little buddies were able to play the game without so much direction, but what i tried to do to keep them playing was to say motivating things to them since i know kids don't always feel confident playing sports unless some people are there to motivate them. the whole thing overall went really well! near the end of the game we found a frog and got a little carried away haha. but everything was really fun and stuff.

choice! lacrosse!

today we had choice, and i think most of us from our class wanted to play lacrosse. it wasn't originally a choice but we were able to do one more activity and so some people from out class wanted to do lacrosse from the start SO. i always love playing this game, it's so fun and really gets you moving from star to finish. it's a really good game for us i think. everybody is always yelling and having fun together. its was just like when we first played, as i expected. we had a few other people that we weren't really used to playing games with, but we didn't leave them out. we all let everyone have a chance with the ball and stuff. we were able to set up the game really fast without any teachers telling us what to do, which made more play time. i think i worked pretty hard playing the game. i din't have the ball so much but i still worked hard. i ran a lot going from place to place and trying to get the ball as much as i can, but it's pretty hard! i think picking up the ball is pretty hard. it's just awkward and stuff picking up the ball like that with the lacrosse stick. everybody worked really hard and i think everybody had fun. i like this game and i'm not too sure why it gets everybody moving and have fun!

cool

buddies 4

this time we did modified baseball! i like this game and it's really fun, and i think our buddies liked it. i got partnered up with avani, ruth, erlynn, and their buddies. we all gave our buddies a chance to throw, bat, be catcher, and be back catcher. my buddy plays softball, so she was pretty skilled in all the things. we discussed how we could make up and use strategies to make the game better for everyone. a strategy i liked was one where we had to do jumping jacks! so when you bat and it goes, for every cone you get to, you have to do one jumping jack, then the catchers have to do two jumping jacks right after they catch the ball before they pass it. our buddies were very open to try the strategies and even made up some of their own. they all tried their best and im sure they had fun. it was nice to see that the buddies really wanted to play and put in lots of effort. i like this class we are paired up with because it reminds me of our class! everybody will work together and have fun. i really enjoy our time with our buddies, it's always so fun and great.

buddies 3

i think this is late. like, i forgot to write about the third time we met with our buddies. on that day, we went over to their gym and we played full body rock paper scissors. it was pretty fun watching the buddies have tons of fun with their classmates playing rock paper scissors. it's already fun playing it yourself too. we also did a game of octopus, but in this version we put in the rock paper scissors. when you got caught you had to do a rock paper scissors match, and if you win you get to go, but if you lose you have to become seaweed. then our buddies showed us a cool dance they did! it was really nice and cute and it seems like they worked really hard on it! it was a fun day and i enjoyed it, and it looked like our buddies had as much fun playing a new game they learned.

fitness

today for fitness we did a 25 minute run sort of thing while the other classes did a community run. it was a nice cardio workout for once.

we ran for a certain number of minutes then walked for 1 minute. the number of minutes we ran is based on our average score of our beep test. I THINK my average beep test score is about 6 or 7, but i choose 6 since i've probably gotten 6 more times than 7 but that is not complete accurate. so since my average is 6, i did 2 minutes of running then 1 minute of walking. i ran with sarah, katia, and tulin. after we started running i realized i probably should have been doing 3 minutes of running then 1 minute of walking. i felt like i could do more, but i didn't want to overdo it. the point of the fitness was to know how to pace yourself. i did the same sort of thing last year where we try to do as many laps as we can in 25 minutes while learning how to pace ourselves. it had been a while since i did anything similar, the last time being during the summer. pacing has become quite easy and something familiar to me since i was taught it last year, so its not so hard for me to do.

the run was consistent, and everybody did great. i think everybody did really well, but that might be because we were running in groups. when you have other people running with you, you are kind of peer pressured to keep running with them. i dont mean peer pressured in a negative way, but your peers can effect that way you perform. and our small groups we were in, we were all about the same fitness level (referring to our average beep test scores). the run really wasn't so bad, but i probably could have run a longer time like 3 minutes running and 1 minute walking. but i think i still got a good workout.

i think i wrote enough, i cant remember what else we were supposed to write about but here's some pictures. im gonna go play dragon age 2 now.

weekend stuff i guess (?)

this past weekend we (my family) went to Fort Langley for a walk! we usually try to go for a walk or hike every weekend and its always pretty fun. i should probably write about those outings a bit more since we do it often.

Fort Langley was pretty interesting. last time i went it had been at least a few years ago. it changed a lot!!!! there's like a lot of new housing (cute homes, to be honest) and lots of people. there also seemed to be new shops and stuff too, although my memory from the last time i was there is pretty foggy (all i remember is a really big antique store we went into and stayed there for god knows how long).

the walk was pretty cool. there was a trail along the river (which im guessing was a part of the Fraser River) that we pretty refreshing. the sun was out but there was a breeze so it wasn't as bad as it could have been without it but by the end of the walk i was sweating. the walk was a lot better than i had expected, i enjoyed it. these walks with my family are always fun and great. one of my favourite walks we've done is around the Stanley Park seawall we did last summer. i think i really enjoyed it because 1) it was in vancouver and i love vancouver I USED TO GO THERE ALL THE TIME WHEN I WAS LIVING IN NORTH VAN. 2) we went pretty early in the morning, or earlier than 11 or 10am at the least, and the sky was cool colours and you could see some of the moon AND 3) it was a nice long walk that felt like an adventure!

i always love the walks or hikes we go on. i really should write about them more often and keep it up in the summer too since we'll probably doing more walks then too. walks are nice things you can do with your family and i think they're great! we also have a bunch of trails and places you can go for nice walks with your family around here. i really recommend doing walks with your family or friends, it can be a nice light exercise or a pretty hefty hike!

heres some photos i had to get from my dad since i didn't bother taking photos :0

this was a real sign along the trail. the trail went along the fence of a golf course

9 Pins & Dodgeball!!!!!!!

On Monday we played 9 pins and dodgeball and it was quite fun. we didn't spend so much time playing either game since we were given a talk first. i did really bad during nine pins, the game makes me anxious and hesitant every time. i remember in 7th grade when we would play the same sort of game but instead of pins (or parts of pool noodles in our case) we used cones, like actual cones that are cones and are pretty hard to knock down. it was easier attempting to run and knock down other people's cones since they were big and they were heavier so it buys you more time to not have someone knock down your own cone while you're gone. i always enjoyed playing that game in 7th grade, but everything changes when you use much lighter and flimsier things as pins. otherwise 9 pin was fun, but i was awful at it.

dodgeball was pretty fun. i used to do a lot during games of dodgeball in 7th grade, but we played dodgeball like every other p.e. day so my confidence and i guess skill kind of went down. i did more near the end though, but overall i didn't do so much. i find myself not doing much during games such as 9 pins or dodgeball, and i think it's because they were games i played when i was younger and my motives were different when we had gym/p.e. games like these are honestly just like more of those games where if you don't put in your all or participate as much as you should, the game becomes boring and leisurely. these games should be fun for you and everyone else playing. im not sure but playing indoor games feel different from playing games outdoors. whAT AM I EVEN SAYING ANYMORE!?! ok.

also i need to take pictures more as proof but i hate having my phone with me and taking it out to take a photo. i always forget too, even though it was just on my mind a few moments ago, but whenever i remember again its too late lol.

Fitness (Tuesday)

on tuesday we had fitness with the other class. we did a bootcamp sort of thing where we were given a list of exercises and we were given one minute to do each, recording how many reps we did in that minute. we later then added up all of our reps and got a total number, the average being from about 300-400.

i dont think i put in as much effort in the second half than i did in the first half of fitness. most people started the fitness with the running, but i started with the jumpy one with the hockey sticks and cones (that was surprisingly hard, by the way). i wish i had put in more effort in the second half of fitness, i'm not sure why i started to stop a little. i think i did the majority of the harder exercises in the first half, which made the rest of the fitness a bit different. this fitness felt weird, and i'm not sure why i think it felt weird. i was working pretty hard in the first half and felt like any other fitness where i put in as much effort. but after i ran which was in the middle, i just started to slow down with the exercises.

im not sure what else to say i can't remember what i was supposed to write about this fitness oh well. i'll post a picture of my reps soon just hold on
