FINAL POST 2014-2015 GRADE 9

1) PARTICIPATION:

According to the suggestions in the question, i think my participation is very good. i have never forgotten gym strip this year, im pretty sure. my memory isnt bringing up any missing gym strip days. and as for attendance, i think all of my absences are excused from being sick or some appointments. ive never been late either, since it is pretty hard to be late for pe depending on your teacher.

I think my participation in class is very good for the encouragement and what i do to make the class better. I've been trying to do as much as i can to help out in class, whether if its giving tips, helping to set up, or answering questions people have; being helpful. i try my best to put in my most effort for every class, especially fitness days. i've been much better at participation this year than i was last year, and i think it has to do with the people around me. i have people that motivate me indirectly and make me want to do my best too. i actually like participating a lot since i think it makes other people follow and they'll do some work too. my motivations behind what i do on days i have pe all come from my classmates and friends. they really help me out a lot indirectly, and i think it has made me a bit better at participating individually.

2) SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTRIBUTION TO THE CLASS:

I think this is one area i have really improved on from the start of the year. i think the people around me have made me more responsible for myself and have made me more confident in contributing. a big chunk of our class is pretty good at doing things without being told to. i try to help out as much as possible, but sometimes my confidence isnt up for it. but ive been getting better, i've been helping with equipment more lately and helping people when they need it. i've actually gone to a bit of a leader position among my group of friends in our class. ive gotten more confident as a person rather than a student in pe when it comes to leadership. i think my social dynamic is pretty good in classes. i mean, im never really negative about something unless its at the beginning and im like "aaaah i dont want to do this today i dont like it" but i keep thoughts like those to myself or some friends in the class. and i dont even keep up the negative attitude fore long, its literally when teachers explain to us what we're doing that im like that, then i shut up and not complain anymore haha. i like bringing a positive energy to the class, its honestly fun! for fitness, i am usually pretty competitive. not them most, but i try to compete with myself rather, and not other people. i think competing with myself is more important, but sort of competing against others is really motivating! as far as connections with the community and volunteering, i havent done any, unfortuntely. i dont do a lot of active stuff outside of school.

3) HEALTHY LIVING:

I honestly should improve on being more active outside of school. but i really think im not that bad. i eat healthy and do some exercise occasionally. i walk to and from school, and walking from school is like a workout for me since i have to walk up like two hills. i eat healthy mostly. i try to stay away from bad foods as much as possible, and i've been wanting to get better at that soon or during the summer. i love to eat fruits and veggies everyday so i think im on a good start for my summer goals. but my parents always tell me to watch what i eat, and i do listen! my parents dont buy a lot of bad foods anyways. one thing they dont buy are sugary cereals and pop, they never do. there is the occasional pop or pepsi, but compared to what i see other kids drink, i really drink litle sugary things. my diet has always been really good, and my parents agree. ive never been one to eat lots of junk food, and i have always been eating fruits and veggies. never afraid to try different and new foods.

for exercise though, i think i should improve. ive always been sort of lacking activity, but i my parents tell my i was always super active when i was small. i remember walking long distances lots and doing stuff like swimming and some drop in soccer, i also did some ballet and gymnastics too. but exercise is really something i want and is improving on. ive set some goals for the summer that i can hopefully keep up throughout the years. it would be important for me to manage my activity since i dont participate in any outside of school sports. my hobbies and interests do tend to be indoor things.

i will say that my fitness from the beginning of grade 8 and to now has been crazy. ive sort of realized my potential in stuff like this, its kind of amazing to me, really. i think anything that would be stopping me from participating would be my self confidence and fear. but ive really overcome that this year, but theres still some of that inside me that i'd like to get out.

i really do plan on improving my fitness or keeping consistent during the summer. i have yet to set proper goals but i will, and i really want to. the goals i set in the year, i have been working on, but unfortunately i havent written a post about that. i was not comfortable sharing my goals on my blog at the time. but i will say that i have been working towards my goal and i can see the improvement.

4) DIGITAL PORTFOLIO AND REFLECTIVE SKILLS:

I will say that this will be an area i wasnt very strong in. i didnt really grasp the whole blog thing early in the year, which lead to lack of posts and understanding of what my blog was supposed to be about. i really regret that, but im not going to dwell on it so much. i never really started writing posts until a few months ago, i sort of realized its pretty fun! i really wished i had gotten the whole point of the blog earlier in the year. but fear not! i am lacking some posts, especially for the stuff like the goal with the videos and workouts. i started writing that post but i forgot to finish it and i guess it was a bit too late...

but with the posts i have posted, i think i write quite a bit. i try my best to get to the point, but sometimes its hard for me since i like to write a lot. i think the others writing comments on my posts has helped too, with what to write about and stuff. im also really bad at getting photos for my posts. its not like i dont have my phone with me, but i always forget. i always forget to take a photo, even when i tell myself im gonna need a photo for a post. ah, well i know why that happens to me but thats not important right now. i also feel weird taking my camera out and take a photo of me and mt friends, im not used to taking selfies at all.

i think that half of my blog is good then rest just not good. my later posts have been better since i have a better understanding of the purpose of the blog and what i blog about. ive gotten more comfortable talking about my personal active living and healthy living on my blog. that was another problem, i wasnt really comfortable talking about stuff like that when its public.

i dont know what else to say about my blog. its not much. im not completely satisfied with it though. but i think my later posts have done a pretty good summary of my active living at school and outside of school. i hope couldve done much better. but next year i have mr. neufeld too apparently, so maybe i can use this blog again! i would have a much better chance of keeping this blog updated next year since i know what to do.

------------------------------------------------------------

ive honestly had such a great year in pe 9. all of the people in our class are amazing, hard workers. this year in pe for me has been big and a huge impact on my life, and i hope to continue with what ive learned about myself and how to stay active and live healthy,

I am giving myself a B for my letter grade.

weekend stuff!

so last weekend my family and i went to our family friend's house for my brothers birthday. we also slept over too but its usually what we do.

so first we went to get sushi and some groceries for lunch at a place called Fujiya in Vancouver. we then had to go to Chinatown to pick up a cake. then we went to a baseball game our same friend was having in north van (where we were staying). it was fun seeing them play baseball, it really made me want to play with them. whenever i see teams playing sports it really makes me want to join in, especially from my experience in pe this year.

but after that we left to go get corn, then went to their house before they finished baseball stuff (we're really close family friends, you see).

usually when we come over, i have to keep a small 7 year old occupied. we usually go outside for this too. we both just played soccer with each other and we tried to play volleyball. this reminded me of our buddies and how we do activities with them.

usually i would take her on her bike around the back alleyway and the street out front. my brother and her brother played with their new nerf guns and ran around the neighbourhood, having to chase them
occasionally too.

but i always have an active time when i come over to their house, its fun! being around smaller kids reminds me of the buddies, but i like it. it reminds myself of how active and energetic young kids are, and how different kids grow up to be.

but later we had a pretty big dinner like always and some dessert. I also watched Terminator 2 with my brother and the other brother.

going over to their place is always fun!

and now im surprised i didnt take a picture for this. i didnt really think about making a blog post for this in the first place but at the same time i did but totally forgot about taking photos. but i have some nice aesthetically pleasing photos of good ol' north van

another walk i went on with my family!

i really need to have 30 posts done so im gonna do whatever i can *sweats*

so surprisingly i didnt make a post about this walk i went on with my family, but i should right now.

this time we went to walk around coal harbour, and i have to say this place is extremely nostalgic. its a place i used to go to all time to play at the park, and with the view of north van (where i used to live), its just a trip down nostalgia lane.

this walk was soothing, being near the water and all. there were lots of people and stuff happening too. we just walked along, and enjoyed the time. i like this sort of place because its a cool city view then a view of the water and mountains on the other side. vancouver really is something. i like being near the water around there since its so nostalgic to me and brings back memories.

but something i didnt enjoy about the walk was my brother. he was in a sour mood about something, and it kinda made the walk unappealing but it was still good!

my parents really like going on walks, i hope we can go do stuff like this more often. and then we went to Kirin to have some of the best Chinese food.

TOFU

i think this is my first post about food oh well.

so i think i found a new favourite food a couple of months ago. i really like dessert tofu. i think its pretty good for you, other than the sugar they put in for flavour, but otherwise tofu itself as a food is great! ive always had tofu in meals and stuff so im used to the taste. i like tofu because it has a sort of refreshing taste, and makes you feel refreshed after eating it. tofu is pretty nutritious too, it has quite a bit of protein in it so it makes it pretty filling. tofu is a way better alternative than having a bowl of cereal to fill you up.

theres all kinds of ways you can eat tofu too and theres different kinds you can buy or make. dessert tofu is good for a snack, but you can buy regular tofu for meals and stuff. one of my favourite tofu dishes is agedashi tofu. its just tofu that was fried and also has dashi (some sort of usually fish based stock) cooked into it too. its pretty yummy, i recommend it. my mom also uses tofu a lot in miso soup. she makes her own miso soup and we use tofu in that. its either tofu or fried tofu that gets put into the soup. i prefer the plain tofu but theyre almost equal. miso soup is also pretty good for you too. you can put a bunch of veggies and other stuff in it too. like enoki mushrooms or shimeji mushrooms, usually some wakame (seaweed), carrots, chopped cabbach, daikon (radish)... one of my favourites is when you can put like little clams in it, and it gives so much flavour. i dont know what sort of clams but theyre small and ive only had that sort of miso soup at my grandmas house in japan. ALSO i really like miso soup with shrimp cooked with it. its literally cooked with shrimp heads and it makes the soup have a shrimpy taste, and you can leave a shrimp head in a bowl of yours too haha.

anyways, tofu is cool. its healthy for your and is a great substitute for meat and other snack foods. story time! i remember once when i was pretty small i went to the tofu store with my grandma when i was in japan. there are literally stores just for tofu, but thats the best stuff.

Crescent Beach

my family and i usually go for walks or hikes somewhere on the weekends. a couple weekends ago we went to Crescent Beach! it was super windy that day, it was crazy. it was a nice refresher though, being near the beach and all.

i really liked the view, though its not the greatest i still thought it was a little nostalgic yknow. there were actually lots of people there, and there was some sort of local carnival thing going on too. we only planned to go for a walk so we only checked out the carnival for a little bit.

i really liked the little community there, so many neat houses too. Crescent Beach is cool, and its a good walk from one end to the other. i hope i can post more about these sort of things in the summer too.

things i do outside of school

first of all, i dont actually do a lot outside of school. other than walking to and from school pretty much 99% of the school year, i dont do a lot regularly at least.

but i will say that i get a good workout from walking back home usually, especially in the weather we have now. i have to walk up like 1 1/2 hills to get home. the last stretch home is literally a giant hill that ive gotten used to walking up. i will also say that walking up that hill has done some stuff to me. my legs feel a lot stronger and leaner than maybe two years ago. but thats cool! its awesome! and with the added weight of my backpack, walking up that hill really is a workout for me. but i wont go saying that walking home is my workout, but not lots of people walk home. i guess all this hard walking and basic hiking ive been doing for at leas two years now is pretty good for me.

but i hope i can do some more stuff after school usually. i dont like being on sports teams and i havent actually done so all my life, so i dont think its my thing. maybe i should start to go walking after school sometimes, or on weekends?

i would post a photo but i dont take photos when im walking to and from school. no photos worth showing anyways, i dont even think i have them anymore :o

fitness testing

so we did our final fitness testing on tuesday, and i will say that i have improved my scores quite a bit.

i would have liked to gone farther on the beep test, but i kind of just stopped :0. i do think that i have the potential to go for longer, but sometimes i dont know what im thinking and i just stop.

i was surprised when i was able to get to 5th position on the stretch thing. and i held it for at least 10 seconds, or more maybe i cant remember exactly how long. maybe ive gotten more flexible, who knows!

i was able to do the body bridge for only 1 minute and 34 seconds. i usually do them at home and i can get well over 2 minutes, my friends started making jokes and i started laughing, which lead me to falling haha. body bridges are super hard. some tips are to just not look at the time and keep your head slightly up with a steady breathing pattern.

i was only able to do 12 push ups but Anusha stopped me and said i was doing it wrong! i was, i will not argue, but push ups are hard. i can usually do more than just 12, but push ups are pretty hard for me :(

on the jumpy thing, i think i realized my left arm got longer!??? maybe i got taller?? but i did realize that my jump distance from where my fingers touched was smaller than the last time i did it. maybe i was feeling rushed and didnt really put so much uh, jump potential....

this was my time for the t-test. this was probably the second time i did the t-test, so i wasnt used to doing it haha. but i think this isnt bad, especially with my lack of practice. i could definitely get a shorter time if i tried harder

i forgot to do the weird board touch thing and apparently we were supposed to do sit ups too. im not very good at the board touch thing, i think. i cant really remember, i dont even know what specifically to do with those things. people always tell me different things, like theyre bad at explaining what to do with them. as for sit ups, im actually pretty good at them. i dont know if im doing them properly, but im sure i am! i can get quite a bit done in say 30 seconds. i am much better at sit ups than i am at push ups.

i think this fitness testing was really good for me, and it HAS shown improvement for me in the past year and last year too. but i think i can still do better. hopefully next year i can improve and do better on my fitness testing. i like doing fitness testing when its just our band class since theres really no one that isnt doing something. whenever its with the other classes i feel less motivated to do the testing because of others. but in this class i feel really different since everyone is really dedicated and cares.

some pictures :o

me doing the stretch thing at 5 and marcia and i. i forgot to line camera that selfie up im sorry marcia.

summer stuff

i have a lot planned for this summer. i really want to do more than sit around for most of the day. especially when i start to get semester-ed p.e. classes, i have to manage being fit for the time i dont have p.e. class.

this summer i really want to do more walking and just going outside more. i was also planning on going to the gym at my townhouse clubhouse like every other week day. apparently theres an age restriction, and my mom says that she thinks its 15, and my birthday is next friday, so perfect!

ive been wanting gain more muscle too, and this is the perfect time to do so. i have some goals set for the end of summer, but theyre not really specific yet so i cant just write them out right now. i could keep my blog updated too.

this summer, like i said earlier, i really want to go out more often. by myself or with friends. i usually dont hang out with people or friends a lot during my free time. i like to have time to myself a lot do things i like to do on my own. but i think its still much better for me to go out and do stuff this summer. so im going to make that change too.

i really want this summer to be productive, and i think it will. with an online course to take, i'll be on task and not so lazy this summer season.

fifa game tomorrow!

so tomorrow im going to one of the fifa games here in vancouver. im going to the japan and cameroon game (june 12 friday) tomorrow! im pretty excited. i usually dont get super excited about sports, but i have to say with all of the times ive been to games theyre pretty fun! im going to see the game with some of our family friends, i hope it'll actually be fun. i usually dont enjoy sports all too much but i sort of hoped i did do sports outside of school.

anyways, we have to take transit to bc place so im going to be on my feet for a long me haha. i dont really know what the point of this post was but yknow. maybe i can use my experience at the game make me think about being more active outside of school! we'll see...

modified baseballllllllllllllll

it was really hot that day and the moment we started walking down to the lower field i felt tired. it was probably the first time i had felt that sort of year this year so it was just super hot. but anyways we were able to play some modified baseball. i played a game with marcia, sarah, and katia. even when it was super hot... too warm... but i felt like that game was more like a for fun thing. it was really hot and i couldnt concentrate well haha. it was really hard running because it was so hot and i was tired from the heat.

i wouldn't list this as a successful pe day though, too many distractions and stuff. i hoped that it wasnt so hot, so then i could have had a better pe class that day. but it wasnt so bad, i still had some fun.

uuuuhhh im rlly late. YOGA

so like a long time a go maybe two weeks ago lol we did yoga! i decided to do yoga because last time i did yoga i really liked and so i wanted to do it again! i have to say though that this time i did yoga did not make me feel the same time i did yoga previously. i was dissatisfied because i did not feel like a noodle after this yoga time.

but it was still cool. it was some sort of intense yoga, and it was great. there were a lot of hard working stuff, but i was able to do just about all of it. a lot of the hard parts were just doing exercises and movements in really weird positions where you just know you feel like youre gonna break your arm. i worked pretty hard and i didnt not do any workout thing that was a part of it. yoga is actually super great for you, i like it. if i were to do some sort of physically active extra-curricular activity, i would do yoga.

i would definitely do yoga again, but i would hope some of the people that participated didn't just do yoga for an easy workout that day. sort of bothered me.

buddies 5

this time for buddies we did lacrosse! we didn't play so our buddies did, and it went pretty well! we had to teach them how to play properly and keep the game going. while they were playing the big buddies were motivating them and kind of telling them what to do to keep the game going. i think the little buddies did really well and gave it their all to try and get the ball. they were good at communicating with their teammates during the game. it honestly made the big buddies want to play themselves too. i felt like some big buddies including me were a little too like "hey do this" to the little buddies. i think the little buddies were able to play the game without so much direction, but what i tried to do to keep them playing was to say motivating things to them since i know kids don't always feel confident playing sports unless some people are there to motivate them. the whole thing overall went really well! near the end of the game we found a frog and got a little carried away haha. but everything was really fun and stuff.

choice! lacrosse!

today we had choice, and i think most of us from our class wanted to play lacrosse. it wasn't originally a choice but we were able to do one more activity and so some people from out class wanted to do lacrosse from the start SO. i always love playing this game, it's so fun and really gets you moving from star to finish. it's a really good game for us i think. everybody is always yelling and having fun together. its was just like when we first played, as i expected. we had a few other people that we weren't really used to playing games with, but we didn't leave them out. we all let everyone have a chance with the ball and stuff. we were able to set up the game really fast without any teachers telling us what to do, which made more play time. i think i worked pretty hard playing the game. i din't have the ball so much but i still worked hard. i ran a lot going from place to place and trying to get the ball as much as i can, but it's pretty hard! i think picking up the ball is pretty hard. it's just awkward and stuff picking up the ball like that with the lacrosse stick. everybody worked really hard and i think everybody had fun. i like this game and i'm not too sure why it gets everybody moving and have fun!

cool

buddies 4

this time we did modified baseball! i like this game and it's really fun, and i think our buddies liked it. i got partnered up with avani, ruth, erlynn, and their buddies. we all gave our buddies a chance to throw, bat, be catcher, and be back catcher. my buddy plays softball, so she was pretty skilled in all the things. we discussed how we could make up and use strategies to make the game better for everyone. a strategy i liked was one where we had to do jumping jacks! so when you bat and it goes, for every cone you get to, you have to do one jumping jack, then the catchers have to do two jumping jacks right after they catch the ball before they pass it. our buddies were very open to try the strategies and even made up some of their own. they all tried their best and im sure they had fun. it was nice to see that the buddies really wanted to play and put in lots of effort. i like this class we are paired up with because it reminds me of our class! everybody will work together and have fun. i really enjoy our time with our buddies, it's always so fun and great.

buddies 3

i think this is late. like, i forgot to write about the third time we met with our buddies. on that day, we went over to their gym and we played full body rock paper scissors. it was pretty fun watching the buddies have tons of fun with their classmates playing rock paper scissors. it's already fun playing it yourself too. we also did a game of octopus, but in this version we put in the rock paper scissors. when you got caught you had to do a rock paper scissors match, and if you win you get to go, but if you lose you have to become seaweed. then our buddies showed us a cool dance they did! it was really nice and cute and it seems like they worked really hard on it! it was a fun day and i enjoyed it, and it looked like our buddies had as much fun playing a new game they learned.

fitness

today for fitness we did a 25 minute run sort of thing while the other classes did a community run. it was a nice cardio workout for once.

we ran for a certain number of minutes then walked for 1 minute. the number of minutes we ran is based on our average score of our beep test. I THINK my average beep test score is about 6 or 7, but i choose 6 since i've probably gotten 6 more times than 7 but that is not complete accurate. so since my average is 6, i did 2 minutes of running then 1 minute of walking. i ran with sarah, katia, and tulin. after we started running i realized i probably should have been doing 3 minutes of running then 1 minute of walking. i felt like i could do more, but i didn't want to overdo it. the point of the fitness was to know how to pace yourself. i did the same sort of thing last year where we try to do as many laps as we can in 25 minutes while learning how to pace ourselves. it had been a while since i did anything similar, the last time being during the summer. pacing has become quite easy and something familiar to me since i was taught it last year, so its not so hard for me to do.

the run was consistent, and everybody did great. i think everybody did really well, but that might be because we were running in groups. when you have other people running with you, you are kind of peer pressured to keep running with them. i dont mean peer pressured in a negative way, but your peers can effect that way you perform. and our small groups we were in, we were all about the same fitness level (referring to our average beep test scores). the run really wasn't so bad, but i probably could have run a longer time like 3 minutes running and 1 minute walking. but i think i still got a good workout.

i think i wrote enough, i cant remember what else we were supposed to write about but here's some pictures. im gonna go play dragon age 2 now.

weekend stuff i guess (?)

this past weekend we (my family) went to Fort Langley for a walk! we usually try to go for a walk or hike every weekend and its always pretty fun. i should probably write about those outings a bit more since we do it often.

Fort Langley was pretty interesting. last time i went it had been at least a few years ago. it changed a lot!!!! there's like a lot of new housing (cute homes, to be honest) and lots of people. there also seemed to be new shops and stuff too, although my memory from the last time i was there is pretty foggy (all i remember is a really big antique store we went into and stayed there for god knows how long).

the walk was pretty cool. there was a trail along the river (which im guessing was a part of the Fraser River) that we pretty refreshing. the sun was out but there was a breeze so it wasn't as bad as it could have been without it but by the end of the walk i was sweating. the walk was a lot better than i had expected, i enjoyed it. these walks with my family are always fun and great. one of my favourite walks we've done is around the Stanley Park seawall we did last summer. i think i really enjoyed it because 1) it was in vancouver and i love vancouver I USED TO GO THERE ALL THE TIME WHEN I WAS LIVING IN NORTH VAN. 2) we went pretty early in the morning, or earlier than 11 or 10am at the least, and the sky was cool colours and you could see some of the moon AND 3) it was a nice long walk that felt like an adventure!

i always love the walks or hikes we go on. i really should write about them more often and keep it up in the summer too since we'll probably doing more walks then too. walks are nice things you can do with your family and i think they're great! we also have a bunch of trails and places you can go for nice walks with your family around here. i really recommend doing walks with your family or friends, it can be a nice light exercise or a pretty hefty hike!

heres some photos i had to get from my dad since i didn't bother taking photos :0

this was a real sign along the trail. the trail went along the fence of a golf course

9 Pins & Dodgeball!!!!!!!

On Monday we played 9 pins and dodgeball and it was quite fun. we didn't spend so much time playing either game since we were given a talk first. i did really bad during nine pins, the game makes me anxious and hesitant every time. i remember in 7th grade when we would play the same sort of game but instead of pins (or parts of pool noodles in our case) we used cones, like actual cones that are cones and are pretty hard to knock down. it was easier attempting to run and knock down other people's cones since they were big and they were heavier so it buys you more time to not have someone knock down your own cone while you're gone. i always enjoyed playing that game in 7th grade, but everything changes when you use much lighter and flimsier things as pins. otherwise 9 pin was fun, but i was awful at it.

dodgeball was pretty fun. i used to do a lot during games of dodgeball in 7th grade, but we played dodgeball like every other p.e. day so my confidence and i guess skill kind of went down. i did more near the end though, but overall i didn't do so much. i find myself not doing much during games such as 9 pins or dodgeball, and i think it's because they were games i played when i was younger and my motives were different when we had gym/p.e. games like these are honestly just like more of those games where if you don't put in your all or participate as much as you should, the game becomes boring and leisurely. these games should be fun for you and everyone else playing. im not sure but playing indoor games feel different from playing games outdoors. whAT AM I EVEN SAYING ANYMORE!?! ok.

also i need to take pictures more as proof but i hate having my phone with me and taking it out to take a photo. i always forget too, even though it was just on my mind a few moments ago, but whenever i remember again its too late lol.

Fitness (Tuesday)

on tuesday we had fitness with the other class. we did a bootcamp sort of thing where we were given a list of exercises and we were given one minute to do each, recording how many reps we did in that minute. we later then added up all of our reps and got a total number, the average being from about 300-400.

i dont think i put in as much effort in the second half than i did in the first half of fitness. most people started the fitness with the running, but i started with the jumpy one with the hockey sticks and cones (that was surprisingly hard, by the way). i wish i had put in more effort in the second half of fitness, i'm not sure why i started to stop a little. i think i did the majority of the harder exercises in the first half, which made the rest of the fitness a bit different. this fitness felt weird, and i'm not sure why i think it felt weird. i was working pretty hard in the first half and felt like any other fitness where i put in as much effort. but after i ran which was in the middle, i just started to slow down with the exercises.

im not sure what else to say i can't remember what i was supposed to write about this fitness oh well. i'll post a picture of my reps soon just hold on

dance baby dance

This is late again I didnt know we were supposed to write about this but I should be writing about everything. We did two dance days, bhangra and hip-hop. These two dances are the hardest of all the dances, hip-hop being the hardest. I like dance weeks theyre just plain fun. Hip-hop is fun but its really hard at first, it's different every time. Bhangra is usually the same and a lot of the moves are similar. They both make you sweat a little bit, especially in jeans and a sweater. Don't wear skinny jeans and a sweater on dance days. The part where we compete with the other classes is especially fun. We won on the bhangra day, we had the other half of the band with us that day too. We COULDVE won the hip-hop, but Neuf had to twerk. I dont know what else to say but dance is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. mr. neufeld stop following my twitter that you followed thats noT THE RIGHT TWITTER ACCOUNT TO FOLLOW. thanks

Parent Project Midterm

1) I did not know my daughter kept a blog for PE at school. Callista has always been someone who enjoys good group participation and is more content when full participation is achived. i am not surprised by anything she wrote. Comments and descriptions of events are definately things she would say. Sometimes its hard to get "the day's events" from her so it was nice to read about them. Reaffirmation about her care and concerns of others. I would give a 20/25. To the point, simple and captures the real-time event.

2) Callista's diet choices are very healthy. she enjoys all foods but especially ones that are good for you. However, exercise is not part of her routine outside of school so i am not surprised to read her comment about being tired and feeling a bit of leg pain after a brief workout. One thing our family is not doing enough of are group exercise activities, although we do make efforts to go for long walks/hikes on the weekends.
20/25 again  as above describing the real-time events and being truthful.

Buddies pt. 2

This is ALSO late. Our last time we met up with our buddies again was great. We played the charriot game with them, and it brought us a bit closer to out buddies and their classmates. They really liked the game and participated the whole way through. I tried to give my buddy a chance to get the others pinnie's, but it was hard since I was just with Avani and her buddy. We tried to have one of the buddies play charriotier while the other was a horse. Although I still think they had lots of fun, and I honestly can't wait until our next visit. The games we play ate fun and we enjoy them too, which makes it even better. This experience with our buddies is super great although I can't quite put my finger on what I'm supposed to learn from this yet but it's enjoyable.

Locomotion

This is late, but last fitness we did locomotion, and it was a while since we had our last fitness. It was nice to finally have some hard work to do. My legs hurt quite a bit the day after, but it wasnt bad. I think i did pretty well, I didnt try to rush any of the footwork or wait for the buzzer. I was always pretty good at not trying to avoid doing the workouts properly, it's not like I dislike this activity. I think locomotion is a good leg workout, it's short but there's lots of work to be done. I like locomotion, although sometimes I feel really exhausted and I wouldn't have liked it, but this time was good. I felt great after having done locomotion.

SHARKS!!

This post is a bit late but I AM FINALLY GOING TO WRITE IT. So we played a game called Dragontails that John, our student teacher thats learning/teaching with us for school, introduced to us, and we love it. It's super fun and it really brings us together.

Also we totally have to play this game with the other PE/Band class. We have to.

This game is really fun because you have to strategize defensive and offensive moves and see what works and doesn't.

We were trying to get used to the game in the first round. It went well though. We were all yelling at each other about our strategies, I don't know if thats a good thing or abad thing since those strategies worked quite well most of the time. One "strategy" that we made up on the spot was to run, and yell and scream with our hands behind our backs? It's super simple but it works almost every time. We are much better on offence than on defence.

Then the second round came, where we were against the grade 10's of our class. Things got a little more intense since we know these guys and how they might play. We still won though, haha. It was a very close game and we just barely made it. It was a great victory because we all had fun playing this game, and we should really play it again.

And we really really really really need to totally play this game against the other class. But the 9th and 10th graders are still split like last time. But we could try day 1 class against day 2 class altogether. That will be interesting.

Buddies!

This post is a bit late, but I'm going to talk about our buddies! I think we had a great time with our buddies. They were enthusiastic and they contributed very well to a game we all enjoyed.

My buddy is pretty quiet and shy towards me but I think that might change as we have more visits with them. She said that she enjoys playing softball, and she likes playing with her cat. I had a great time playing Dragontails with my buddy, and I think she did too. I liked how everyone was having fun, and the buddies were having fun too. I think this buddy thing is great for our buddies, I think it's supposed to make our buddies not be so scared of older kids. Something I really liked was when many of the buddies were trying to contribute to our game strategies. It was good letting them contribute because it gave them a sense of welcoming. I'm not sure on what else to say about our buddies but they were really great and I think the class we are with is quite similar to our class when we work together.

Active Learning - Reflection

During PE this year, I think I have shown that I was prepared and very willing to participate in all activities. Even when the activities were not something I really enjoyed in the first place, I still made sure I was going to do it no matter what, because it doesn't matter in the end, as long as I did something. I think I have participated to my best effort on fitness days. I feel more motivated with fitness activities. I think that this year so far has been a really good time to realize that it's a great thing to stop worrying about other people and do what I'm supposed to do. The people around me have somehow motivated me indirectly to keep up. I don't think there have been too many days where I felt like I was struggling. I like doing PE with people I know and can get along with, and I think that is what's been motivating me!

I think I contribute fairly well. I don't contribute the most, and maybe I should, but I don't think it's a bad amount. I think the fact that this class works together really makes the class stand out. I bring a decent attitude. I would complain about an activity at first but then I just let it go and do it. I don't want to bring a negative attitude to class, because that makes the whole class unfun, and it lets everyone else down. But this class mostly makes up of people that try their best to put in their all. I know the other students quite well. I think the Band-PE linear thing helps. Usually, like last year, you didn't really know anybody at first, and you don't have another class with them, but this year, the band-PE relation really helps. Because in band we all have to work together to make good things happen, and same with PE. The relationships we already have a classmates and friends really helps with the overall quality and motivation of the class. I interact with most of the other students since I already know most of them quite well.

My participation during fitness days is pretty good. I think fitness motivates me because everyone else is also doing it, so why not me? I think I've been able to push myself physically with the indirect motivation of the people around me. Just looking at the hard work some people put out really help. It makes me think that I'm not going to be alone when working hard. I don't really know if I have any favourite fitness activities. I don't really mind any of them. There may be a couple I don't like, but I think my thoughts from last year have changed. I haven't really thought about my fitness goals too much. I just want to stay consistent in my fitness levels. I really think it is important for me to maintain a fitness level that is good. I try my best to stay consistent, because I think I'm at a good level. Although I need to do more physical activity when I don't have PE. I'm really bad a motivating myself to do physical activities outside of school, but I think I'll find a way.

To me, leadership means that you have to motivate and help. A good leader knows their people and how they act, a good leader has to be loud and clear. I think our class has some of the best leaders. I think Erlynn is the best leader in our class. She knows what to do and when she needs to speak she gets the attention of others. Although I feel like everyone in our class has the potential of being a good leader in this sort of situation.

I would like to improve my participation in activities like sports. Although that participation has gotten a lot better from last year. I enjoy doing all sorts of activities now, and everyone else have helped me indirectly with their own enthusiasm. I am most proud of all the effort I put into PE this year. Now that I look back, I really feel great at how much i put into this class. I wasn't expecting myself to enjoy PE this much ever in my life. I used to dread doing PE, but now it has really made me feel a bit better inside!

I think the letter grade that best represents my effort is an A. I really put in lots of effort over the last number of months, much more than I expected when I first had my PE class this year.
